Que es?
The Weblog of Brett Singer. Bringing the world what it needs most - a blog.

Note: Sorry about all of the 'hot deals' entries (someone referred to this blog as CorporateShill.com).
The deals and things are being fed into Multineedia.com. We will soon move the deals category over to Multineedia so you don't have to read it, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

    Calendar, blog script, more

These look like useful Perl scripts. I know this is not exactly a news flash to anyone, but I love the fact that people write simple software and give it away for free, often with instructions so that non-programmers such as myself can install them without too much trouble. Well, sometimes there is trouble, but it's not their fault. Its great that people write complex programs too (OpenOffice, etc.) but I use the little web-based ones all the time. So thank you!

PBS to release NerdTV under a Creative Commons license

PBS will be launching NerdTV, the first downloadable, web-exclusive series, beginning Sept. 6th...NerdTV viewers are encouraged to download and copy the shows, share them with friends and even post them on their own Web sites - all legally.

This is a great thing, but it will take MTV or some other huge corporate entity to really break CC licenses into the mainstream. If Spike Lee made a film and released it with a Creative Commons license - not likely to happen, but it would be interesting. I know, there was The Wired CD, which was cool, but it didn't really crack the mainstream public as far as I know. Still, good for PBS. Hopefully the Republican party won't shut them down before the show airs.
