Que es?
The Weblog of Brett Singer. Bringing the world what it needs most - a blog.

Note: Sorry about all of the 'hot deals' entries (someone referred to this blog as CorporateShill.com).
The deals and things are being fed into Multineedia.com. We will soon move the deals category over to Multineedia so you don't have to read it, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

    Searching for Video online
Video files present a search challenge, from MSNBC. Indexing Web pages looks like child's play next to indexing video files -- the next big frontier for Internet search engines. But they're giving it a try. There are so many legal issues with this, that I'm slightly surprised that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. There are indeed a lot of video files out there, but many companies go to great lengths to protect their content, sometimes succesfully and sometimes not. Usually the protection is from the content being downloaded, that is, watching it is okay. However, those that are serving the content want it to be watched on their own site. Yahoo's video search puts the results in a frame, which is ironic considering that Yahoo's own Launch.com is the one place where I haven't been able to find the actual link to the video file for the purposes of putting it in a Webjay playlist. Another piece of info in this article: AOL bought SingingFish, which is sad because that means they will eventually kill it. I guess it took years before killing off Winamp, so maybe it won't matter. By the time AOL gets around to screwing up SingingFish, we'll all be using our neuro-web-interfaces to search for other people's brain waves.
